Prepairing for maternity session :
Clothing Options
- Decide on a style you prefer for your session. Having a style in mind will make picking outfits easier. You can find options of styles on Pinterest. I will send you a Wardrobe Guide as well.
- Wear what you are comfortable in – being uncomfortable will show in your body language in pictures
- Pick your outfit first, partners and kids are always easier to plan outfits for.
- Press clothing you are planning on wearing to minimize wrinkles
Make up
I highly recommend professional make up and hair. Not only will this make your photographer's work easier, but you will also feel beautiful and confident at your session. If you do your own make up, do it a little darker than normal. If you don’t normally wear make-up, mascara and lip gloss are all you need.
Nails
Get your nails and toes ready for the shoot. Your hands and feet will be in every image so we want them to look fabulous. I recommend neutral colors or French manicures. Avoid extremely bright or fluorescent nail color.
Skin
Moisturize your elbows, knees and legs. Dry skin will show up in photographs.
What to bring?
- Bring a nude strapless bra and nude underwear , black bra and black underwear. If you would like any nude or partially nude photos, please get the "Skip the line adhesive thong" ( you can find them on Amazon or Ulta Beauty )
- Bring a hairbrush, setting powder, lip gloss, and body lotion , we will apply it on your skin before the nudes shoot.
- Bringing a fresh bouquet of flowers can add a personal touch to the session and make the photos more meaningful.
- For your husband, keeping it simple is usually the best. He can go with a basic shirt to t-shirt in white, tan, gray, black , beige, etc. Bring two outfits for him, with matching shoes, something dark and light we will play with.
- Bring one or two pairs of high heels, black and nude ones, or if you have something stylish and trendy.
Drink water and eat light snacks frequently to keep your energy up and your skin supple. From my own experience, I know that sometimes moms-to-be forget to eat. I have snacks and drinks in the studio if needed, but always recommend having food in your belly for the session.
Get as much rest as possible the evening before!
If you have a favorite side or feature, let me know – the same is true for areas that aren’t your favorite. I will plan poses based on this input.
Several hours before your session, please remove anything elastic, such as tight socks, shirts, pants, underwear or bra to prevent elastic or strap marks on your skin. Please also remove any bracelets or watches that might leave a mark on your wrist. Jewelry should be limited to essential pieces. Too much will be distracting.
Stretch marks: My suggestion is not to worry about them. I can masterfully eliminate them from your photographs should you desire me to do so.
Try to relax and enjoy this time. I know, that’s a tall order! It’s hard to be on the other side of the camera. Don’t worry about needing to know what to do, or how to pose, I’ll guide you through the process.
